Dominican Style Crispy Orange Chicken

Break the monotony with this Asian Inspired dish

Gadgets and cooking needs: baking pan or glass pan, oven, saute pan, bowl
Ingredients:  Serving for two
  • Chicken Breasts- 2 halves of a boneless breast, trimmed and sliced into pieces
  • Flour- 1 cup
    • Eggs- 1 / 2 if necessary - beaten in a bowl
  • Butter- 1 tbs.  I can't believe it's not butter
  • Orange Sauce- 1 1/2 cup of  Panda Express Orange Sauce
  • McCormick- Asian sesame seasoning variety pack

Heat oven to 400 degrees. Meanwhile coat chicken in egg and then completely coat in flour to create the crispy outer layer of the chicken. Your oven should be ready, so place the chicken on the baking pan with the butter pieces spread around, and place in the oven. Leave baking for 20 minutes without turning until the last 5 minutes (this will allow for the crispy layer to stay on the chicken instead of peeling off). The butter should have helped keep the chicken moist but crispy.

Heat your saute pan to a Medium high. Add baked chicken, then pour your Orange Sauce (stirring in the Asian seasoning; Stir everything together  to marry the flavors and to heat the sauce, for about 2 minutes.  Now your meal is ready to serve!

Dominican style Orange Chicken

My, family was disappointed to see the old cost cutting tricks of less meat and more "flour and vegetables" in our meals, so here is my version of a Chinese classic Orange Chicken the way a Dominican would make it; hearty with meat, and robust flavor. Easy to make for the summer, and all year long! It also goes well with Brown Rice which you can find in Gluten Free, and or a side of steamed vegetables. Thank goodness chicken is a metabolic food!
